Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
