Iran is ready to reinitiate nuclear discussions with Washington provided that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said only diplomacy produced results, and shared new appeals had come from mediators to resume negotiations with the US government. He claimed Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran was not yet able to authorize the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect bombed nuclear sites for safety concerns.

Navigating a Complex Course

The foreign minister is treading a complex path since Iran aims to avoid be seen to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger militarily and emotionally from the Israeli-US attack on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium domestically that it will never give up" – the key factor of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.

Earlier Negotiations Suddenly Concluded

The prior phases of talks between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with US support, struck Iran's enrichment centers in a 12-day war that concluded with Donald Trump claiming the locations had been eliminated. Subsequently, Western states exercised their privilege to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was agreed an local partnership with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium.
